About That Great Gretsch Sound!

That Great Gretsch Sound! is presented through a special partnership between the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music at Georgia Southern University and The Kessler Collection. This permanent display of music memorabilia, highlighting 135 years of Gretsch instruments, will be featured in District Live’s lobby and performance space, offering a unique musical journey through iconic instruments, historical timelines, and videos highlighting the Gretsch family’s enduring legacy in music and education.

The “That Great Gretsch Sound!” exhibit officially opened its doors to the public in November 2021 with a vibrant ribbon-cutting event. The grand opening celebration featured performances by Georgia Southern’s Southern Pride Marching Band and School of Music ensembles, an appearance by Freedom, the University’s live bald eagle mascot, and remarks from university and community leaders.
